If you're in the market for this camera, I suggest checking out Canoga "http://www.canogacameras.com/e/env/0001-674725-1211049670-77242529-28086-0S7F6/index.html?link=%2e%2e/info_pages/cam_info.html&item=invnew:52492"
- They ARE an Authorized Canon Reseller
- They have a 6.8 (out of 7.0) rating at resellerratings.com
And that price INCLUDES the Canon 1yr extended warranty (brings your total warranty coverage to 2yrs).
ordered mine yesterday for a total of $2242.00 (with $17 UPS Insured Ground shipping).

I bought my D30 from them on 9-25. They are great! Prices and service. It's a no brainer to go with them.

I bought the D30 from Canoga as well. Also a Tamron lens and a UV filter. Got it overnight (110 bucks). The D30 was brand new, already had the firmware update. Nice help from the salesman on pickin a lens. Everything packed well, all the receipts and rebate info I needed, arrived early the next morning. Everything works like a champ. Very pleased. I'd highly recomend them.

So do you bargain on the phone with them? Their website lists it for over $2500

Just call them up, tell them you're interested in the D30 and want the $2225 deal (including the 1yr. Extended Warranty).
They won't hassle you about it (not at all).

You'll be very happy with Canoga! 10 days ago I received my D30 with Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L lens. Came in 2 days with standard shipping (I live in Arizona though...they're in California). I've taken over 1100 pictures in just over a week. Very impressed...very impressed!

Is it just me, but you can find D30 for under $1600 ?!?!

Advertising $1,600 is scam to get you to call. Then the fun begins...Go ahead and try to order JUST the camera from them, not to mention they ain't gonna be Canon Authorized (therefore no 1gb Microdrive/Extra Battery rebate deal).

Not true. That's how i bought my G1. Found the cheapest price for the camera at one shop and ordered it online. Then I found cheapest price for the microdrive, and ordered it online. Camera came with original Canon warranty and I paid it 30% less than it was in the Authorized Canon resller shop :)
Best part was: where was no sales tax !

I have been lurking on all threads to buy D-30, and I have yet to find *anyone* ANYONE to post an honest purchase at under $2250 (Canogo, or others, perhaps) for US warranty body. $1600 is a total joke--but if you actually get a D30 body at that price. PLEASE post here with confirmation of actually holding the camera in your hands with paperwork to get the MD and battery. I'll jump all over it if it's true, but I doubt it...
cheers,

Canoga Camera told me on the phone this morning (Nov. 23, 2001) that the D30 lot at $2225 sold out this morning. New batch expected later today, priced at $2250.
I went with www.profeel.com in New York, who have the D30 at $2250. Even though the ext. 1-year warranty is another $50, and shipping is more, it was a better deal since I'm in CA, due to the sales tax.

How about $100 without the lens :D
I am constantly revisiting my D30 photos...I still think that, of ALL of Canon's bodies, the D30 produced the cleanest ISO100 image. It gives them an almost magical quality. It's been a while, but I used to regularly print up to 11x14" from this "dinky" little 3MP files  Sure it was slow, and you had a better chance of throwing it and hitting an object at 10 feet, than to actually have the camera accurately focus on it.

10 years? Last August, 30D's were going for ~$600 from Adorama, and I don't think we'll have to wait too long for the 40D to drop pretty close to that.
