I made this "ringflash" for my stacked lenses setup (100mm macro+reversed 50mm, enlargement 3:1).
It is hard to get some light in the face of an insect because the working distance is less than an inch.
So i made this modification for my small (slave) flash.

It's realy easy to work with, i used to use a large flash and that is hard in such tight places.
I have worked with this setup quite a lot and and i am very happy with it.
I made a plan so you can make it too :)

Have fun.

where do you buy those adaptors so that you can reverse your lens round, I just have to hold mine :'(

You buy them from B&H, they're called adaptor rings or something. Make sure you get the right filter sizes.

WOW! fantastic shots.
Can anyone explain the theory behind having 2 lenses attached together, one of which in the opposite direction !??!?!?!
Can you post a picture of your bracket?
thanks

Basically, you're using the front lens as a very highly corrected closeup lens.

can a step down ring be used if I the macro coupler is not of the proper size?
I have a 50mm lens with 49 mm thread and a zoom with 67mm thread.
can I use a step down (67 to 55mm) then a macro coupler (55 to 49mm)?
thanks
