View Full Version : AF modes in fast action sports

I would appreciate comments abouit the use of autofocus modes on a 20D for outdoor fast pace sports like soccer.

What I found from my experience is that one shot AF is really bad since the players moves between the AF and when the picture is taken (obvious...). I also used the AI servo mode, but again, there is a slight delay between adjustementswhich produce a slight out of focus pictures. I tried with my EF 100-300, but also with a EF 70-200L 2.8.

My basic question is what mode professionnals are using (if they are using AF at all of course...).

Are you using (1) center point focusing? There's a lot of talk on settings in the "Sports" forum that might help, too. If my 300D can do it, then you should have no trouble with the 20D, right? ;)

Yes, I am using only center point AF. I will take a look in the sports section. Thanks.
