I am leaning toward the black, but I am curious which colour you have ordered or will be ordering, and why?
I haven't seen the "matte silver" in person yet. Has it been used on any of their other cameras? Is it the same as the old school Powershot silver?

i have the black. i prefer the classic black over silver. black is also less conspicuous when in public.
one nice thing about the S100 vs the S90 i had is that it has a matte finish which makes it easier to hold onto. the S90 was a bit slick, but i had the franiec grip which took care of that problem.

We've had threads on this before...but I got mine in black. The silver is actually not silver, it's a nice "titanium" colour, but still...black is just too awesome to pass up.

i heard it described as almost a champagne color. it would be interesting to handle one.

I’m going to make my usual comment to be shot down as usual.
For reasons of minimizing of obvious (close up) reflections of the camera in glass, water etc, I go for black every single time. (Though this doesn't apply to long lenses for obvious reasons.)

If it was actual metal (or looked like real metal) like my old ELPH S200, I would have though about it, but with the coolness factor of the S90/S95 it just seemed logical for me to get it in black. That's also the only one that was available!

Completely. Through a glass display, like a museum or zoo is a classic example. It's why I invariably go for black.

I usually HATE boring colours (most of my cars have been red, blue or green for that reason)...but with serious cameras, nothing looks quite as good as black!
For my girlfriends (when I have them lol) I always suggest colourful cameras haha...I figure if they like the way the cameras look, they'll probably grow more "attached" to it and be more likely to use it.
Btw, one of my exes got an SD1000 in champagne and it was one of the best looking little compacts ever :)

I thought I'd only get the black version until I put the titanium version in my hands... it looked sharp, so I bought it! Something to consider... black is nice, but I bet it actually shows micro-scratches and little dings more quickly than the metal colored version, IMO.

It might...also, the rough texture of the paint is horrible for showing dust, lint, etc...

I'm close to buying one, the only color i've seen in mid-TN is black, which would be my choice anyway.

I'm too old school. In my mind, cameras are either made of wood or they're made of black painted metal.

Looking closely at my titanium colored S100, and checking around on the Net, I'm trying to determine if the front panel is actually metal. It certainly feels and looks that way, and the front panel has a slightly different look and color tone from the other shell pieces such as the flash housing). Maybe just wishful thinking on my part? :)

I thought everyone knew that black cameras take better pictures
Although if I got one in silver my wife would think it was the old Panny FX01 I bought back in 2006.

Black for me. Everything else I have is black. Why not color coordinate?
Black also gives you that cool factor of +100

Hopefully not at the same time.....
As for the thread discussion:
I always like my cameras black (but lenses can be white).

Shorter lenses should be black - for the same reason as above - reflections. Longer lenses, it doesn't matter.

I'd guess that the front IS the metal part, while the other parts such as the flash housing are plastic...
I went with black. It is one sharp looking little camera.

Black for me. Just like my girlfriends (I'm white)... Actually, I think black looks better, but silver might be better because it probably won't absorb as much heat in warmer climates...
