Yes - Tripod Mount Ring A (black, #2888A002). It's exactly the same as Tripod Collar A (white, #2889A002) except for the black finish. Price difference is about $30.

Why would you WANT it black is the question? It's part of the lens, and the lens is white.

I can think of about 30 good reasons,.....and they all look like President George Washington :)

I just thought the black one looked pretty cool myself. Someone posted a photo on a different type lens a few days ago and looked pretty nice ... my camera ain't white :D and if there was an option I'd prefer to have the 70-200 f/4L in black too but won't be applying any paint ...

That one seems to be for the 70-200 f/2.8 not the f/4 model.

Actually it's listed (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=211436&is=REG&addedTroughType=search) for the 200/2.8L prime, but I own one - as well as one of the white rings - and I can confirm that they're identical except for color. I use the black one on my 70-200/f4L ... the white one came with my 400/5.6L.

Thanks HJ ... do you by chance have a photo of the black one attached to the 70-200 f/4L?

I don't, but there is a photo in this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=81293).

I have the same combo, and I swapped them - the white ring looks better (to me) on the 7-200 f4L, and the black ring looks okay on the 400 f.56L - but I only did that because I had both. Either ring is expensive enough, I just can't see the extra $30 for a different color paint.

Have Fun,

Can those tripod rings be attached while lens is mounted on camera, or lens must be removed?
Thanks!

Does 70-200L f/4 come in black?
I don't really like the attention of ppl when I'm carrying this big white long thing around, ya know...

No. If you want something black choices are Canon 200mm F2.8 prime, Canon 80-200 F2.8 L zoom (out of production) or maybe some 3rd party lens.
I've noticed that when carrying big white lens people usually think you're pro and move off the way. On the other side, candid photography is harder to do.

Yes, these rings can be both attached and detached from the lens without removing the lens from the camera.
