32 Bit PCMCIA Cardbus Usage

I'm looking at a few 32 bit PCMCIA cardbus adapters for CF cards. I like the idea of not having to use an outboard USB reader. What I'm wondering is, when inserting or removing a CF card does the adapter need to be removed from the laptop. I had read one review on an adapter that the reviewer stated to remove the card the adapter had to be removed from the laptop to take the CF card out.

Mark - In my PCMCIA I can not remove the CF card if I don't push the cardreader out of the laptop.

same here, you have to take the pcmcia card out so it dismounts the cf.

Likewise. OBTW - if you want close to USB 2 HS transfer rates make sure you get a CardBus adapter, not a generic PC adapter. CardBus adapters will generally need their own driver. I have a Lexar CardBus adapter and several generic and SanDisk PCMCIA adapters and the CardBus is noticeably faster.
