The best filter is no filter at all...but if you really want one, you should buy a good quality multicoated filter. Hoya's Pro1 and HMC filtes are exclellent filters, but they are a little hard to keep clean. B+W's MRC filters have a special coating that allows for much easier maintenance. Be forewarned, these are not cheap by any means. You can however order these from Ebay for about 1/2 the cost of what they sell for on BH photo. Besteastern and Chinaarts (EBAY vendors from ASIA) both have a great selection of filters at a very good price. Shipping from Asia usually takes less than two weeks.

What do you want the filter to do?
That lens comes with a long, sturdy hood that will protect it from fingerprints and physical damage.

Thanks guys I thought it had to have a filter, you just saved me $50 for now. I take good care of my stuff and if it doesn't give it a better affect with it on then I'll wait. Thanks again.....New Lenses on it's way:lol:

If you do decide to use a filter just be sure the glass in it is removed first.

I always use a good quality, properly designed, lens hood on any lens I am using. The glass in all of my lenses is still as good as the day it was made.
