My daughter bought these citronella torches for a summer party she was having in our yard in August. They are supposed to deter mosquitos, hence the title of this thread and also give a nice ambience when lit up at night (that they do).
Took a few shots in August at different angles,at different times. Used a Canon 28-105mm F3.5-4.5 ( with a polarizing filter on #1).

I like them all. They really give the sense of anti-aircraft artillery. Ironic and interesting to look at.

Great shots. Wish I could just pick up something ordinary and make nice pictures from them.

A very clever concept, fine "choreography" and execution.
However, a bit of a disappointment too....based on the title I expected to se a squadron of dragonflies swarming your deck or something to that effect....:D

Thanks for the comments and encouragement folks. The defense system has now been stored for the winter.;)

Glad you liked it, The polarizer really helps with the blue especially at 90 degrees to the sun. Here is a completely different version of the same shot...an inverted or negative version if you like.

Imaginative, Unique. Something so simple caught by the photographer's eye (After stubbling over all the peanut shells in his yard from the Bird Feeders)   :o

love the color and use of the polarizer in the first... all have a really nice framing feel. That lens seems to be pretty damn sharp.

Thanks for the comment. I really have not put this lens through a good workout. It has surprised me though often giving very sharp images and the bokeh also sometimes looks like the bokeh off my L lens. Check the following owner reviews at this link.... However I would ignore the first review on this link as it appears to me that the reviewer picked the wrong page and is commenting on a 28-105mm F4.5 - F 5.6 rather than this 28-105mm F3.5-F4.5 USM
