When I turn on my 10D,.. I notice that it displays first the letters EOS on the small LCD,. but then it displays
"PA-A" for a few secnds before it finishes starting and reverts to the stadard display.
Anyone have any Idea what this means?
I never noticed this for the first three weeks of owning the camera.
Did I just not see it,. or did this start recently. Is this an error message?
Thanks,
CDS

It indicates that you have selected "Adobe RGB" from the "Parameters" menu on the camera. It means that the camera will store image data using the Adobe RGB colour space.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Morden!
And Indeed I only recently changed to Adobe RGB in the settings. :)
But I just couldn't put that together.
I was getting worried for a moment there.

I am not knowledgable about colour management (yet!), but this is how I understand it:
Assuming that the camera actually uses the full Adobe RGB colour space instead of the sRGB default, recording of a wider colour gamut (range of colours) should be possible when Adobe RGB is selected.
Note that the camera does not embed the ICC profile in the image file, so the correct profile (Adobe RGB) must be assigned to the images the first time that they are opened in Photoshop in order to ensure accurate colour handling.
I hope I have got this right, as it is what I am doing with my own photos from the 10D! If I am wrong, I hope that somebody will tell me so that I may correct my procedure.
