On my previous XT I sold the the image count was around 2800. I formatted all my cards before using them in my new XT but noticed a folder on one card: Canon 128. My shot count was around 100 but trying this particular card it sees the image count like the other camera, around 2800 ... how'd it do that?

It seems like this same sort of question comes up time and time again.
The camera will figure out how to number its next shot based on the larger of two things. One is the last shot number in its internal memory, and one is the last shot number off a CF card. Remember that it reads a CF card before you do a quick format in the camera.
The way to really wipe out the shot number count is to hit both items. Remove the internal memory battery from the camera and the main battery. That wipes the memory. Then do a complete format of the CF card in the computer. That wipes the CF card.

CF cards do not need to be formatted in the computer, UNLESS you need to really wipe them clean of image file numbers (quick format does not do that), or you have had performance problems with the CF cards (corrupted files, etc.).

Yea they all seemed to have retained the image file folder where the camera wouldn't erase that folder. I did 'em all with in Windows and formatted to the camera and they're all fine now.
Thanks again
