I'm considering a SLIK 300DX or a Velbon347GB. To be used with a SD550 and a ZR300. This is my price range $100. I'm a beginner and these cameras are my starting point. Who has experience with these tri pods. Most of my videos will be at drag races.Still shots will be indoors(low light) and outdoor car shows. I appreciate any comments. Thanks

just get a tripod that is sturdy and has the right kind of head for what type of imaging you are going to be doing. i jave a vlbon 343maxiE and it's pretty nice for a cheap tripod.

I have one from Wal_mart that cost $18.99. It works and I like it better than the stupid one I got at the fancy "pro" store for 80.00.

I see you have a P&S, I had a cheap $30 tripod that was great for my S500, wasn't enough for my XT though. That said, the 330DX I got for like $80. Wonderfull buy

I realize that tri pods a personal choice. So lets do it this way..which is more durable, easy to get parts. Slik or Velbon. They are both close in height, price and complete package. One supplies a case. Should I flip a coin? These will be purchased sight unseen(mail order).

I have a Slik 300 and it's a very sturdy, well-made tripod. I highly recommend it. It's a little shorter than I would want for a main tripod but I use it for travel and hiking due to its compact size and light weight.

OK Thanks, Would you buy the 300 again if you had to? I'm 6'1".

I hate my Slik 400, the legs are starting to spin around and that's anoying when trying to flip the snaps. The thin plactic ring that holds the head on cracked also, so if the knob that controls swiveling isnt cranked tight the head can fall off.

What would your next choice be? Anyone else on Velbons. I want a decent starter tri pod
for indoors and some outdoors. Mostly to be used with the ZR300 cam.
