SIDE STAGE!@!!)

Wow,

P6, S1 and S6 are my favorites. Sorry to hear about how rough it went for you, but I would have never thought it if you hadn't mentioned it.

They are all killer shots but #C1, #P2, and #S series stand out.

That there was a delay really blows....Was the delay because the credentials problem or because of problems with the parking lots in SoCal that masquerade as freeways? :)

What settings did you have to get them that clear with bad concert lighting? Were you hand holding it or using a monopod?

The mark of a true professional is when he or she can make wonderful images out of an unforeseen difficult situation. You my friend have shown yourself to be a true professional. Great job! :D

Aww damn, those are brilliant shots, and I'm sorry you had trouble getting in.

Why do security have to be so know-it-all.

Some fine skills, and some fine glass it looks like.. Were they f2.0 or 2.8 lens?
Love the shallow DOF.

Who do you shoot for, Eric? Nice shots.

How many songs did they let you shoot? When I covered the Rolling Stones last last Friday I got to do their first 2 1/2 songs and then they kicked us out, so if I was late. No cigar for me...

I listen to the radio and have never heard of this band. And I never knew country & western had gone over to tats, goth and grunge either.

Good photos though!

Kawter2 - I don't have a clue who these people/bands are but I like the images. Especially like #1 (wide angle, well exposed and framed) and #5 (for the lighting and intensity).

Great photos. I love the fish eye one of the crowd. Number one. My eye was drawn to the rather rude young man giving a one finger salute in the middle of the crowd. Great indeed.

a WHOLE bunch of problems ;)

about 30mins was due to a prior comment

45mins due to the 91 fwy.. i mean 91 parking lot

about 30mins getting directed to the wrong entrance/parking-lot (3 times per lot) and will-call to get my credential

about 2 songs fighting with security after they harassed me for having what they claimed to be a "fake" credential

by the time I was able to shoot I gout about 1.5 songs

:) :) :) fun times

using 5d | 70-200is | 24-70 |& 15fish

Mostly M mode with spot metering, however, the wide angle shots (i.e. 15mm & 24ish) i went to AV about 50% of the time, using with ev +/- depending on the frame

Everything was handheld, and actually i was getting shutter speeds between 90 & 250

Love the shallow DOF.

They were all with 2.8.. the most common misconception and or mistake at a show (especially with decent light) is over exposure,.. the HUGE contrast in light areas compared to the dark ends up giving you misleading results if you arent carefull

Why do security have to be so know-it-all.

Yah I ask this... ALL THE TIME

This set I was shooting shots for POD's management to use in promotional material (mainly web) and for their various fan sites.

Here is one I shot for PAX217's on their homepage

http://www.pax217.com

How many songs did they let you shoot? When I covered the Rolling Stones last last Friday I got to do their first 2 1/2 songs and then they kicked us out, so if I was late. No cigar for me...

Yah that is generally how it is.. 3 songs in front of stage and that is it (which is probably why security thought my cerd was fake.. i.e. not getting there in time to shoot in the appropriate location)..

I missed the 3 songs, HOWEVER I knew I HAD to come away with something, so I b-lined back stage and camped out stage left behind the stage fills...

RE: the comment about professionals getting the "shot" when times are difficult.. I really appreciate the compliment!!! I think sometimes I get better stuff in a "crunch" because ALL the variables "fly out the window" and the only thing I think about is "GOTTA GET THE SHOT!!"

Again.. thanks to all for their positive feedback,.. and if i didn't answer someones question please let me know

Cool, sounds very fun. Makes me smile, being in similar situations like you, and facing those pressures.

For me though, the first song was in front of stage, and then they moved us back like 70 feet for the second song and half.

Nice shots. In that first one there are some that seem to be signalling to you with that one finger. Humm?

Thanks for sharing.
