Found a family of these to share with you, the first is a female and an immature Tawny and the 2nd a male who wasn't quite as sleepy lol.

Ok, your last posting of this species was great but this is too much. Both great shots! The first one with 2 is very sharp, and the shape of these birds...., their ability to melt into the background is obvious but your angle certainly brings them forward. That second shot ...wow...those eyes. Phenominal!

These are very well done! Any tree climbing involved here?

Taken with the Bigma I assume?

Thanks for the very kind remarks, it's always nice to see these birds as I think they look fantastic but quite different. This was the first time I've found one with it's eyes open that wide so I could enjoy them.

lol, how does one go pro ? I keep hoping next time the phone rings it'll be Australian Geographic ;) . I'm just excited that someone has asked me for some of my captures so they can publish them lol. Thanks for a very flattering comment Paul :o

I was real lucky Al, no climbing involved this time :D lol. Some of the captures were with the Bigma, some were with my 90mm macro lens lol (it was the only other lens I had on me at the time).

Sorry Peter, I was real lucky with these this time as I wasn't even looking for them. Last time I couldn't get any good shots even with climbing and such. You were still quite lucky mate and got some great shots. Though I was surprised yours moved, normally even if their on the ground they don't move. Part of the reason so many get killed by Dogs and cats.

Thanks for the wonderful remarks folks, always great to hear feedback.

Wayne, yep mate. They are active at night feeding mostly on insects and such.

Frank, lol yes I have

lol Fee, it is amazing how well on the right trees they just blend in. I wonder how many times I would have walked past these type of birds and never known they were even there.
