they look good enough IMHO
they are all exposed well etc, you cant tell if they are sharp enough from the little pics but i assume they are or you wouldnt have posted them.

i have at various times worked as a professional photographer (mainly news/magazines) and have been asked to do several weddings. Apart from one I have always refused.

The one i did do was on film (back in the days when digital SLR's cost the price of a new mercedes and the quality looked like something a child did with a halved potato and some paint)

anyhoo it was, as expected, very stressful even though the couple wanted reportage so i didnt even have to arrange the punters for group shots.

waiting at the side of my bathtub for films to wash and come out of the tank gave me palpitations till i saw they were ok.

i would dearly have loved such a beast as the canon eos 10d at that time so that i knew i had something in the bag before i left the event to sleep listlessly.

I have just been hassled to do someone elses wedding recently and i have the digital kit...... but i have refused!
im just not confident in the 10d. If i was going to do the wedding i would have to do it on film or take a laptop to scrupulously check the results while i still had time to do something about the bad ones (and i dont want the stress involved in doing it in film or have the hassle of working with a laptop frequently).

how many of you are doing weddings completely with 10d? how are you getting on?

i am just not as impressed with the results, focussing etc as i think i should be and i am more than happy with the results from my eos film camera and minolta film scanner.
IMHO my 35mm film cameras (and film scanner) are still better quality-wise though far less convenient than my eos10d.

Can I ask what lens(es) you used for those shots?

Thanks, Rod

I used a Canon 24-70mm L for all those shots.

As for the other poster, I shot weddings for 2 years with the Oly e10, all very sucessfully. Now I have upgraded to the 10D. I agree if you dont have confidence in a camera then dont do it, but I and many others are living proof that weddings can be shot sucessfully with not only a 10D but even lesser cameras such as the e10. Its a matter of knowing how to make the camera you have work well for you.

I am not even close to being a professional yet, but you have some beautiful shots there. You have a real eye for catching special moments.

I gotta say schroder, I checked out your site and, WOW! You sir are a fine wedding photographer although I am sure you don't need me to tell you that.

Those photos are a shining example of what a 10D can do with a Great piece of glass in front of it and an experienced eye behind it.

If I may ask, what are you finding the reaction to you using digital at weddings to be? I shot weddings for a number of years with mamiya equipment and even the most novice people were bugging me about not having a hasselblad. I would imagine that the reponse to digital wouldn't be as favorable with a MF film camera. You know that whole looking like a pro thing. None of my current clients will let me shoot digital for them, they all demand film but I am wearing them down slowly......

Justme,
First off thanks for the compliments!

As far as the digital x MF thing. Well, I dont make an issue of it and dont talk about it much with my clients. I put enphasis on the final work, on the images. How I acheive the be it with MF, Digital , 35mm or whatever really doesnt matter AT ALL. So unless they ask me what I use and question digital, I dont talk about it cause its just not relevant. The camera is a tool, thats it. One of my best known photos (which sits on the opening page of my website) was taken in my first year in weddings with a lowly Canon AE1, talk about consumer 35mm, thats it! Just a few years ago thats what I was using as my 35mm camera!

I too have a Mamiya 645 but the bulky slow format just doesnt work for my style. Good for resolution, bad for style.

As for wedding guests, I only occassionally have someone try to talk shop with me. When they do they are usually impressed with my cameras be it whichever it is. Also the 10D looks like a 35mm and not a digital, most people are surprised (schocked really) to learn that digital cameras come in that size.

Just remember, dont put yourself on the defensive about digital. Its not about that.

Beautiful work! Mind if I ask-what type of light modification are you using? It looks like ceiling bounce to me, but I could be wrong....
Thanks!
