I've noticed that thistles grow all over the country, but are much different from area to area. This one, taken in Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle, is one of the prettiest I've seen. Shot with 75-300 mm IS in June, 2005.

You're absolutely right about this being a Beautiful Thistle Stan. I like your composition wth the two smaller ones on each side. :D

Good shot.
I did love visiting and exploring Palo Duro Canyon when I lived about 30 miles away in Hereford.

Well done Stan, your path seems to lead towards (bird ?l) macro photography.
This is the prettiest thistle image I have seen: colour, clarity, composition (3 Cs;) ) and background.

A nice shot Stan but I would hardly call a thistle beautiful. I had to pull so many of those things when I was kid they still make my hands sore just looking at them.
Nicely done though. Great colors.

You need to get to Scotland for some thistle shots - it is the national flower after all.

Yeah, yeah, it's always the dumb computer. (Hope you don't mind a little ribbing, Maureen, and feel free to return the favor next time I do that.)

I'd love to visit Scotland, thistles or not.
