I purchased a refurbished Mindstor storage device, and the first thing it did when I turned it on was ask me for a password that I don't have, and it won't get to any of the menus until a password is input.
Does anyone know how to reset this Password feature when a password is lost?
Please help.
Thanks

Hello
I did a serach there, try http://members.cox.net/steved64/mindstor/
He had written how to save a broken DW
He writes:
Passwords:
I mentioned earlier the firmware image area holds the MS/DW password.
On the cdrom there is another program 'pwreset' which can be used to
turn off any password that was installed.

Thanks, but I checked the cdrom carefully, there is no such software on my version (1.8) of the cdrom.
I am trying to email the host of that website for the program if he has it.

Thanks, but I would return the product and try X-drive (idea from other posts) before I would take the Mindstor apart. The x-drive was made for installing your own drives, and you don't have to mess with software or adapters, etc.
I was hoping for better solutions, but considering the company is out of business, I am just going to return the junk--it shouldn't be that difficult to resolve a password being lost. Ohwell.
Thanks for all your help
