I have heard some rumors about Canon 25D commin out in february of 2006. Is this true? Has anyone seen the specs ?

The reason is, that i've been looking at the 20d for some time now, as an upgrade from by drebel:D. So I am wondering if I should bite the bullet at Christmas or afterwards when the "new" model comes out.

Oppinions?, answers?

I havent heard such a thing but it is likely there will be an upgrade by Feb - I too am waiting to see if it is worth paying more for or if it brings down the 20D price. Either way I neeed a second body and find the 350D has AF issues though I will be keeping mine for macro.

Buy a 20D now, and you've got at least $400 more (when you figure in the rebates) for lenses to go with it compared to what an anticipated, unannounced successor will cost whenever it does come out.

And TRIPLE rebates!

I was in your shoes once, last year they had the rebates for the 300D. I knew the XT (no name yet) was coming out in Feb. Glad I took the rebate and got the 300D. Sure the XT has more features, but I had 6 mo's of Digital Rebel use and the rebate money in my pocket by the time the XT hit store shelves.

Don't ask will the 20D replacement fill your needs, ask will the current 20D fill my needs...
If not, then I would wait, but only then. And be clear that your list is needs and not wants. As many on here will tell you the gear is always better then the user 90% of the time for us techies in this forum.

Well, After loads of research and reading others oppinions, I will be waiting till Christmas to upgrade to 20D. A couple of weeks ago, I have purchased the 70-200 f/2.8 L and that set me back to zero. So, It I wait the month and a half out to geather some more cash, I would eventually will be able to afford it towards the end of the year.

I mainly need the camera for the bigger buffer and continous shooting mode. As with the Drebel, I can only take 4 pictures and then got to wait a mere of 5 seconds before another shot. Whilst, I am doing sports photography and can not afford to miss the action.

Plus, the extra versitility can never hurt.

Also, would a 85mm f/1.8 for basketball shots be necessary instead of using the 70-200 f/2.8 L?

It's not necessairly necessairy, but you can get faster shutter speeds with the 85 1.8.

For basketball, the 50(1.4 or 1.8-1.4 is better all around lens though) and the 85 1.8 are good primes for basketball, if you are on the baseline.

if your shooting at 100 iso just up to 200 to get the shutter speed gain back :)

Great link. I think this is a specialized camera though. This camera as a mode to give an "unobstructed view of people pink parts". Now we have the 20Da for astronomy students and the 25D for anatomy students.

The next product in the pipe line is the 25Da that will give an unobstructed view of people's bank accounts for accounting students.

They are only working on the A's now. Zoology students are going to have a long wait.
