Yeah , I know, there are other sports!
For anyone who has not seen kiteboarding , 1st pic shows several kiteboarders "cruising" along in light wind conditions ,( Botany Bay , Sydney Australia) sailing similar to a sailboard or windsurfer.
It gets much more exciting when the wind picks up a bit and all kinds of tricks become possible.
Kites are rarely visible in most pics as the kitelines are so long.
2nd pic is reasonably rare for a kiteboarding pic , have not seen too many people riding a "skimboard" with a kite.

Great pics, but I have to ask. What happens when they fall? How do they get back up?

They just fly them down close to the ground , have a helper on the beach catch it.

Experienced kiters can relaunch their kites fast (usually within 30 seconds)
The less experienced tend to drift around for a while struggling.
The kites in these pics are called "inflateables" , the leading edge (front) of the kite and struts have bladdes which are filled with air. So when you crash them onto the water , at least they float!

Choderboy - hope you don't mind me posting this pic in your post.
This is me a few years ago in (on land tho) with a 4.5 metre kit - kinda small compared to your kites, but still great fun when the wind is up.

Don't mind at all.
I have a few land boarding pics myself.

it takes a lot of skill to kiteboard. I was watching them one but the air they get is pretty cool.. especially when its windy.

Up here in MN there is a huge crew of people who kite in the winter on skis/boards/skates. Its pretty sweet. Redbull actually puts on a event called Kite freeze on Lake Minnetonka in Febuary.
Here are some links to some snow kiting pics.

Hmm. It's winter in Denmark now. My kites, board and everything are resting at my parents place. Nothing like getting beaten up by the waves, all day long :) Remeber the helmet though. Sad to learn it the hard way.
