Well I am new here, I found you guys last night around 2am and was pretty impressed by what I saw. What attracted me the most was the fact the community is open to mods and I most defiantly one for modding my hardware.
My fiancé is getting me a Rebel XT 350 so im pretty excited. I need to learn some camera lingo and photography terms so I can fit in better haha. Im actually in the process of setting up my personal blog/photography web site on my business server so hopefully it’ll be done by the time I get the camera.

Welcome and I think you will learn a lot from these guys. They take their time and are very thorough with their answers. Good luck with your camera too. I'm lucky to get a stick of gum from my wife let alone a camera. =0)

that'll come to a screaching halt my friend. =) Kidding of course. That's actually very sweet of her. Use the search link to find out about pretty much everything from studio lighting to what kind of tripod to buy. I stumbled accross this site by accident and am on it constantly.

Yea .. I want to look into nightime IR shooting. Similar to what sony does with their night shot camcorders. I would assume all camers can pick up IR lighting so I want to look more into that and see what I can find.

1031; you know how many responses you're gonna get for that last comment about IR stuff; right :)
There are a TON of posts about this on the forum; Search through the posts about IR camera mods and IR filter choices and you will gain a lot of info on this subject.
You will discover from reading the posts that there are people here who can answer a lot of questions on this subject; but you're more apt to get the answer you are actually looking for if you do a little pre-reading on the subject to help you narrow down your question.
We like to help; but some threads go horribly off topic because the Original Posters (OP) question was too vague to answer succintly.
Hope it helps!

Oh yea I know what you mean. I belong to a popular Overclocking forum and that happens all the time. Some one will post a question saying "My computer is acting funny what it can be?". Then towards the end of the thread you see people comparing AMD vs. Intel as if that would solve his problem.
I know I need to do some pre-reading before I actually ask which is why I had thrown that into my intro thread. I’ve been reading a lot, searching a lot about different stuff all day and so far I'm finding some pretty useful stuff.
The thing about the IR thing is, I was hoping I would not have to remove the IR filter but looks like that is the only way to achieve what I had wanted to do. Even though I want to take my pictures at night with IR LEDS, I think I still need to remove the IR lens. That’s not the only reason why I came here, but that was something had thought about for a bit even with my old camera.
This 350D will be my first DSLR so I'm pretty excited and can't wait till I can start shooting.
Lastly (wow this got long ha-ha), I plan on opening up my own image hosting web site fairly soon. So I'm hoping friends from my computer forum, and possibly my new friends here at the POTN will utilize it.
