After looking at this picture I've noticed a redish semicircle on the photograph. Can someone tell me what may have caused this circle?
The camera settings were:
Manual
ISO 200
f 5.8
shutter speed 1/125
WB: cloudy
focal length 1071
digital zoom Ration 1.23
The weather was misty and cloudy.

Is that full frame or crop? Are you sure that you're not just seeing the effect of the background wall? Were you shooting in a blind?

I think you had something hanging right in front of your lens.

That is a full frame shot uncropped. I was standing next to a tree shooting off hand out in the open. I don't think my eyes are playing tricks on me. I see a semi red circle going across the bird and into the back ground. I took a few pictures today, standing in the same spot and I do not see this on anyother photo

Well, I'm seeing a broad brick red vertical band to the left of the egret and a branching red band (narrower) passing diagonally under it. So I think it's situational, not the camera.

There may have been something in front of my lens but I did not see it if it were there. Every picture that I took today I was standing in the same spot and I do not see the same circle in any of them.

That vertical band was a brick building far off in the background. What causes my concern is the red circle passes over the bird and into the back ground.
As flyingphotog said, maybe something was between me and the bird and I did not see at the time. I hope that's all that it is.

You have image editing OK, so I've highlighted the red band you're talking about for those who don't see it:

I think you just had something very close to you hanging across your lens. Possibly a branch or twig.

Sirrith, that is exactly what I am talking about. I do have image editing and this picture is the final result of my editing it.

I meant you have image editing set to "OK" on the forums, so I'm assuming you don't mind people editing your photos :)

Sirrith, sorry for the misunderstanding. I don't mind at all. I feel that if someone will take the time to help out I will gain by it. Good job.

It almost looks like the top of a wrought iron fence. Post on left, curl right.

The outline of the red bar seems pretty wobbly, to see what I mean check out the back of the birds neck at the base. My guess is just a freakish optic something or other. Stray light.

It is the jump rope of one of the kids. Shaped like a noose.

You can't leave them alone for a minute. I told them to leave that rope at home.

So, next time in that place, first you have to say "go away" and that will keep them out of your photos.

And I thought that they were going to help me keep the bird in place so I could photograph it. So much for that thought

Could even bee as simple as a twig or something falling in front of you while you took the shot - and you never noticed it.
