I have a couple pics that someone wants to use in an ad. Do I need to have the owner of the vehicle sign a release to use it, or do I own all rights to the picture? The pics dont show the license plate.

Sometimes I get them. Sometimes not. (Public place & event, etc) Is it an unusual, distinctive car, or something you can see anywhere on the street?
I have a couple pics that someone wants to use in an ad. I'd ask them if they need one. Thier lawyers will say YES of course. So you do need one. "AD" = use for profit, so you can't get away with editorial or educational use.
Lot's of worms in this can, & of course, my advice isn't worth anything.

Lots of discussions here on those points, too. Run a forum search for copyright for the links.

What you want is a variation on a model release, called a property release.
