extending battery life?

What is the best way of extending the life of the G1 litium ion battery? Would continous charging of the batttery be better or is it better to to use the battery until it is fully discharged before recharging? Or is there no difference?

The manual mentions that the battery does not have "memory."
However, on page 132 of the manual, it mentions 300 charge cycles.
Does it mean that after 300 charge cycles, the battery will become degraded?
I'm curious about the battery life also.
