Hi - during my research I came across a lot of threads where posters were contemplating using this lens on a crop sensor.

Would it be ok to request people who have this lens and a crop body to post their samples here to help out their friends here decide?

I ordered mine just the other day and it will be here Monday. I will let you know what I think of it.

I have tried out the 17-55mm 2.8 IS and really wasn't that impressed with it. Don't get me wrong, it was a very nice lens, but the price just seemed too high for it to lack weather sealing and metal construction. I do plan to upgrade to a FF camera at some point and that was the final reason I went with the 24-70.

This is the question I ask myself for quite long: Will 24-70mm be useful on
crop sensor? Especially in my case since I have the excellent 50mm 1.4 and
28mm/85mm both 1.8. So I will definitely swap lenses less with 24-70mm,
but is it worth the price? On FF no doubt, but on crop ….slightly wide to
short tele

Having used both I must say that I find myself needing the extra reach to 70 mm while almost never needing anything wider than 24mm even on my crop sensor. Shooting family events is primarily when I need the 24mm and it works great.

Absolutely love the first shot. The colors and clarity are great.

Thanks. Up until that shot, I was questioning that lens. After that. I loved it.

Taken on a 400D (no filter). Heavy but colours are fantastic.
