Some great shots on this page folks, excellent work! And Daniel, that shot makes the B&G look like toys in a set-up, fantastic!

Thank you Pulsar, for the shot I could'nt get. Tried shooting with welders glass and it just didn't work, the glass was not good enough and the image distorted. :( Perhaps in 2117 I'll have a solar filter for my Ultima 8. ;)

the 135 is definitely magic glass! Its making me reconsider the 100mm L on my list. If you had to choose between the two…. Thats a dumb question to ask on the 135mm thread? My wife is into macros, but Im seeing very good close ups with the 135 that doubles well for other shots. Seems to have more bang for the buck than the 100?

The 135L has reasonably close focus capability for a non macro lens so it does okay for flowers and other small subjects to a point. But if you need macro, you need macro. The bokeh on the 135L is the main selling point in favor of it over the 100. The focal length is close enough that both can do portraits. If you do sports the 135L focuses faster.

Get it when you can, Brandon. I have the 35L, 85 f1/8 and the 135L. The 135L is my favorite of the bunch. A lot depends on if you can use the focal length. If you can, it's the best performing lens of the 3 for me. I was just looking at some shots from my 7D and 135L last night and I was simply blown away again by the sharpness. Individual hairs were resolved perfectly. It really is a magical lens.

my 1st attemp use lighting..this pict result form croping, uncropped photo is fullbody n the model sit down on the chair...
i can't use photoshop, i can't remove the dust on the backdrop..so, i use them for ornamen :D

Mom and Dad just got back from up there, my nephew graduated high school. At one point they were at the Green Belt? Counting bicyclists, both over the bridge and passers by...something like 120 crossed it and over 400 rode by the bridge...sound familiar?

Thought about sending my 70-200 2.8 IS with em so you could try it out, they were there for 3 weeks so you could surely have given it a good run with that high-tech new toy of yours!

Ha! Should have done sent it, I could have sent them back with the 135 for you to shoot for a week or so. No pro here, I could live without it, only cost ya a few bucks to get it back up north.

Yes, we LOVE the greenbelt. Superstar and her little bro come down to the kayak surf park and play in the river while papa surfs it up. We live just moments away and spend a lot of time there. 22 miles (and growing each year) paved pathway along the beautiful Boise river right through town. The shots of little Sam walking the dog you commented on a page or so ago were taken there. BTW the 135 and that thing I have to attach it to make an outstanding pair! (just to keep it on track ;))

I was looking in to this combo also. Do you feel you use one way more then the other or are they both equally important to you? I miss this focal length, I have no lenses in its range at the moment. I am looking at either a 135L or a 70-200 f4 IS next.

I don't have a 70-200 myself, but would like one someday! I prefer primes, but for some event work, zooms are a little easier.

Since I got my 135L I dont use my 70-200 F4 IS nearly as often. Obviously it still has the advantage in reach, but for people its hard to beat the 135L and if you add a 1.4 extender, its a fine 189 2.8 prime.
