I checked on Epson's website for this paper and there wasn't enough information about it to satisfy my questions. What exactly does this paper look like?
My guesses are that it would make the print look textured similar to a painting. Anyone here use this paper and can give more info and advice? Thanks.

100% cotton rag, w/ velvet surface texture. I have 2- 13x19 wallhangers one color and one b&w, that get the majority of ooooh's and aaaah's. print texture is "velvet".
this is "gallery" quality. think velvet painting. ( epson 2200 )
19 mil thick matte finish, very thick, check your printers capability.

The paper did come up when I went to Epson's website for my printer. Does print sharpness decline because of the paper?
Thanks much. :)

Yes. It's a different look, though. If you want something ultra crisp - like architecture maybe - then a flat glossy would look best. But a moody landscape - one which doesn't need to be ultra sharp - might be better suited to a textured matte paper. It depends on the image and what you wish to convey.
I've often seen sample packs of different papers at local photo stores, particularly the Ilford stuff. Might be something to look for to get an idea of how some of the different papers look.

Red River Paper (http://www.redrivercatalog.com/) make a bunch of different papers that work fine with my 2200. You can get a sample pack of papers and try them out. You'll get a rebate of the cost of the sample pack if you order more paper later on.
(Disclosure: I have no connection to them, I'm just a happy customer.)
