Sometimes on the LCD of my A70, there seems to be lines that run across the screen or color distortions (usually light red color) in some areas of the LCD. It appears only when i have pressed the shutter button halfway and usually in bright lit areas. It doesnt appear everytime but seems to be light related. Anyone have these problems?

Yep, the dirct sun appears to be too bright for the little gnomes processing the lighting

If you will look in your manual on P209, you will note that this red bar of light will appear when subject lighting is too bright. This is not a malfunction.

Hi,

I just posted a topic regarding something similar (A70 focus distortion in LCD) and then found this topic.

I've just got my camera and noticed that when the cameras focus motor is moving (camera focusing) that strange horizontal interference lines appears in the LCD screen at the top. Once the motor stops moving(camera is now focused) they disappear. Is this what you're talking about ?

It's easier to see if I just hold the button down half way and is more pronounced if i've zoomed in.

Is this a fault ?

Mark.

I think its two different issues. There is the interference from zooming and focusing that seems to be related to low power (ref mooky's thread here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13106 )...

And there is also an issue with aiming at light sources that are too bright... the LCD is 'washed out' and vertical lines (redish bars) appear through the light source. I see this also with my sony digital and my sony trv-65 camcorder.
