This re-enactment of the old RAC rally takes me back to my early days as a motorsport photographer. Today's Croft stages lasted less than a couple of hours in glorious sunshine, very cold and no opportunity to move around the circuit for alternative views.
Stig Blomqvist:

Sometimes they came in twos:

Did anyone tell him it was a tarmac stage:

When the less careful hit the bales, they had to be put back in position:

Vodka anyone? Please, to warm me up:

That Jardine chap is back again:

It's the sun on his glasses, but it does look spooky:

One of my favourites to finish:

Next event is some winter racing at Anglesey circuit on the 4th of December. My season isn't quite finished yet.

Amazing shots..as per usual :) Proper Rally cars, none of this new-fangled WRC stuff.
I got there a bit late (again) and missed the first cars on the stage so it's nice to see those shots of Stig and Jimmy Mcrae.
The Stratos was on its last lap as i arrived and i couldnt get a clear view to capture it, so i might sneak out of work on Tuesday afternoon when they come back to Croft.

Nice set of shots Ken, I was expecting Mr Jardine at least to be out in a classic Skoda:( I didn't realise you were there today as I didn't see you, me and Simon headed on down to near the 'helicopter parking area'
Cheers

I was near the crossing point on the back straight, just beside the bales. Not much of a chance to do anything other than 100yds either way in that short a time. I was happy to see Jardine in anything. Unlike a lot of TV journalists he has first hand experience of a wide range of motorsport and I admire him for it.
Got some decent shots as the sun was in the right direction for a change. I didn't even have time to feel the cold before it was back in the car for the trip home. I think Anglesey in two weeks might be a bit on the nippy side though, as there is very little shelter on the circuit. Yet another media pass to add to the ever growing collection.
One more and then I must get on with some work for a couple of the mags:

Awesome shots Ken.
Pick of the crop for me is the Stratos - it's so in your face.

I'll have a vodka anytime particularly if it's delivered by one of those! Great to see one running. Superb photos as always, Ken. :) Your "extra" one is my favourite of this lot, a lovely low angle, a nice dynamic on the car, you can see the drivers faces and it has some bales in the background. Perfect.

All nice. Part of the perks of my job working in a Lancia restoration company is that we see Stratii from time to time :-) Currently have one in from Norway for some work.
