:o ok i feel really stupid for asking this but here goes... what exactelyis 'macro' photogtaphy? is it just close up pictures or is it only insects/ 'bugs'? :D
I have spent some time on the macro forumand that is all that i can come up with?
any help with be most appreciated... thanks:lol:

Macro photography is any "close" up picture of anything. It doesnt have to be just bugs, they just seem to be popular in the macro world

Another explanation is that it is a photograph of anything at a much closer distance than what you normally view it from. Most of us look at a flower from a distance of one foot or more. Shoot from six inches, and that is macro. Normally you need some slightly specialized lenses or equipment to be able to focus in that closely.

I believe that technically, macro is anything lifesize or bigger.

Macro is 1:1 magnification or lifesize as stated above. Although most lenses say macro on them it is really only a marketing ploy. There is a difference between close-up and true macro.
