yep
I bought it again!
Also bought the Marumi 86mm UV (only for harsh-weather usage) for about 35$ brand new. Not too expensive for a quality filter.
I was considering either the ef 300 f/4 L or the 400 f/5.6 L
In the end I decided neither was fast enough for me.
So I bought the bigma last week again, for a few months until I get the Ef 300 f/2.8 IS L + 1.4x II
Then im all set w/ 300mm @ 2.8 and 420mm @ f/4

The bigma is such a temptation...it really does seem like a quality value for all it offers versus the other options/prices. I think my next is the 135L, though.

Its a really nice lens if you want versatility.
I appreciate each of Canon's and Sigma's devotion to quality gear and have the ability to distinguish certain qualities from others. Therefore my judgment is not biased towards a a popular brand. The Sigma is sharp ! I've said it before and ill say it again, the closer I get to the long end the sharper the images get.
I see it as strong competition to the 100-400 L and 300 f/4 L and 400 f/5.6 L.
But it is no competition to the 300 f/2.8 IS L and 400mm DO and 400mm IS L.

lol, I'm surprised by how many people who have sold their Bigma have later at some stage bought it again. It is a very good value lens thats quite able, even if I buy better at some point I doubt I'll ever sell my Bigma, it's just too damn handy.

I thought that you were contemplating the 300 F2.8. What happened to that plan.

ssim, thats exactly why I didnt pick up a 300 f/4 or 400 f/5.6. ill use the bigma till the end of the year. Then pick up a 300 2.8 L. Ill keep the bigma unless something of comprable specs and price is released. Maybe a bigma with OS ?
Ohh ya, I no more contemplate the idea of a 300 2.8. I now celebrate the decision to own one soon!
What im really contemplating now is whether to get the mp-e 65mm or TS-E 45mm.
I feel that 45mm on a 1.6x crop will be a little too tight for building architecture. By buildings I mean sky scrapers.

I've thought about getting another myself several times. No IS is the killer for me ... for the price tho' it's a no brainer purchase so who knows!! I could still go that route.
