This was my first proper shoot using my sigma 400 on the 5Dmk2 so I was quite pleased when I saw this Egret feeding on our local salt-marsh.

I was able to get fairly close and tracked its hunting for around 30 shots until I final got the one I wanted, the bird transferring the fish ready to be swallowed.

The main shot is about 40% of frame and the close-up is around 7% of linear frame dimension (so is very noisy).

Single point focus with manual exposure, ISO 400, wide open with 1/2000th sec shutter speed

I may be able to squeeze a little more detail out with some MA but I don't think its too bad a result for such an old (and cheap) lens - it cost me £300!
