A family member wants to buy my D30. Can anyone give me an idea what a fair price for the D30 w/battery grip in excellent + condition.

The going price on E-bay seems to be in the $300 range. The D30 is still a great camera, but compraed to its newer brothers has some flaws. I still use my D30 at work every week.

I would agree with the $300 - $400 depending on the shutter count and condition. You'll probably want to cut the family member a deal though right? :-)

Hi
A UK decent size camera shop is listing a D30 on their web site 2nd hand for £179 (~US$300), and that is with a 3 month warrenty I think.
All the best

Not worth getting rid of it,it's too good to sell for next to nothing.I shall now keep mine as an emergency back up or give out to anyone on the family or friends that wants to learn the basics of photography.

I agree with Trumper. The D30 would be like have a fine old car that runs well. You don't want to sell it, since you won't get enough to justify selling. I end up donating older equipment to budding photographers. I have given away a lot of my old and expensive film gear to friends who were getting into photography. Now I am giving away digital equipment, go figure. I'd say if it is a family member, give them the camera + accessories on a long term "loan" and let the keep it and enjoy it. Check with them in about 3-5 years. If they are not using it, take it back. If they are using it, then you'll gain pleasure in knowing you've helped someone out.

I agree totally with the above i.e. worth more to me than what I can sell it for. I'm going to keep mine as a spare and for my wife to use.

i still have the D30 but rarely use it!
i loan the D30 to family and friends so that it gets used ;)
i've got it for 2,5 years now and have only 3000 actuations on the counter and that's why i don't sell it for almost nothing
the reason that it doesn't get used that much is because i bought a 10D a year after buying the D30 and as i now have 2 10D's the D30 stays in the closet.

As a guide, one has just sold on e bay for £227, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7563929687&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1.
Makes me wince to think that mine cost £1800 new but having said that the lack of developement costs have for than paid for the camera and it is still my main camera.
