In an effort to fully move into my 10D, I really don't like the stock Canon neckstrap. Any suggestions for a strap that will secure the camera but allow it to be handy?
Is a wrist strap the answer and if so which one?

Take a look at the pro straps at:

They got a handgrip, too.

We use the Canon wrist/hand strap on both of ours and like it. Although I wish someone would make a strap that converted easily from neck to hand. From what I've seen of the Optech series, I am leary of the plastic buckle connectors (1500 dollar camera hanging by a 2 dollar connector). If someone has experience on this please let me know what you think. My initial thoughts could be wrong on these.

Another vote for optech - Galen Rowell was a big fan too.
I've used mine for 6-9 months now with no problems. The elasticated strap really eases the pressure on the back of the neck even with a big lens like the 70-200.
Those little connectors may only be 2 bucks, but whatever they are made of, they are not going to break. It's very handy to take the strap off when the camera's tripod mounted. You'd have to do something very strange to unclip the camera by accident.

I like those neoprene straps to but I gotta tell you that those plastic buckles aren't worth a damn. I have broken countless numbers of them. I broke one just this weekend which required that I use the split ring off my key chain and some pliers to get me back in business. No damage to the camera as I was gripping the lens when the buckle failed. Lucky for me.

I agree the plastic straps with the snaps are a big danger of dropping your camera. I also had a strap break on me and damaged my D60 and it was not cheep to fix.
