BE, you really have a very nice collection of different species. One day, you will capture all the species in FL. Then you will venture out the States near by, then the west coast...................at the very end, you will publish a "World Butterflies Guide"........opps maybe I went too far:D :D , but you should be proud of yourself. Excellent work!

BE,
Very Nice! Here are a few more from the north end of Polk County. It has been a great year in these parts for butterflies. Do you have any other suggestions for good butterfly shooting locations in the area? I get lots of good shots at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales.

Thanks BE,
I plan on making it down to Lake Kissimmee SP...now that the hot weather has passed. I was over at Lake Marion Creek WMA (http://myfwc.com/recreation/cooperative/lake_marion_creek.asp) a few weeks ago, I have never seen so many white peacock butterflies (and large snakes). Just watch out during hunting season, it seems well hunted. Unfortunately it was just after I sold MY Rebel XT and before my 20D arrived. I will head back there soon too.

Wow! I am so jealous of the first & last - I want to live where there are blue butterflies! Were those out & about or at a conservatory? Don't tell me if you see them in your backyard:mrgreen:
What are the 2 flowering plants(for the gardeners in the group)?
Here are a couple of the regulars in my area.

These are more common in our area than the other two. I love to see the butterflies & NOW photograph them. Just got my camera in June & had loads of fun this summer! You are all so much more experienced , I only realize how I should have composed the shot afterwards.

Rosewomann, I did find these all in my Backyard.;) I wish. All of these were found at the Cypress Gardens Butterfly exhibit, they just received their exotic shipment last week, and they are all emerging from their cocoons. If you wanted to live where the Owl Butterfly lives, you'd have to move to Ecuador. Thanks for the very kind words. Your photos have great potential, its just a matter of practice, and more practice.:D :D :D

Excellent BE indeed! Now that the colder weather has come up here it'll be next summer before I can manage to capture anymore BF shots.

Hey Richard, I had another thought as well, in Lakeland there is a place called "Circle B Bar Reserve". excellent place as well, a lot of wildlife including Bald Eagles as well, just a thought. We should hook up sometime, it would be great.:D :D :D

Thanks ... I hope to really improve on them with my L lens addition but the best closet zoo is in New Orleans (2 hours) that has a Butterfly exhibit and it finally reopened today since the hurricane. Probably make a trip after the first of the year sometime as the City isn't in too good of shape right now.
