I'm guessing it's an exhaust leak. I've been suspecting I have one for the past couple months. Of course, my registration is due for renewal next month and I have to get a smog check this time, too. So, I have to get this fixed real soon! Not this week, though. This week I have fun and relax. I'll worry about it after I get back home...

PVC Valve maybe?

thomascanty

Could be. I can smell exhaust sometimes when I have the vent on. And my gas mileage isn't quite as good as it should be (though, still far from terrible).

At least you made it to the motel. Hopefully it's something minor and easily repaired.

Are you staying in that area for a while?

I'm here until Wednesday. I was just going to PM you. I'm thinking of heading up to San Francisco tomorrow. If you have some time free and want to meet for lunch or something, let me know. I realize it's last-minute, but then, this whole trip was unplanned and spur of the moment. I was supposed to be in the Placerville area days ago but had to postpone, then eventually cancel those plans because of maintenance issues at home. I had to go *somewhere*, though, so I headed here for a few days as soon as I could escape from home.

Well, check the most obvious thing, Lonnie. Make sure the engine is still there.

 Oh, I checked that already.

I also checked the second most obvious thing - making sure the gas cap was on correctly. I've had a loose gas cap cause that light to come on more than a couple times before. Wasn't the problem this time, though. :(

That's what my original plans called for in the Placerville area. But since I'm on the coast instead, I doubt it. Well... I may stop in Colma (south of San Francisco) to visit Wyatt Earp, but that's about it.

My schedule is booked solid until 3:30pm Monday, but I'm wide open on Tuesday and I need to burn off a vacation day before the end of the month. If Tuesday works for you, we can make it happen.

Actually, I had the routine stuff (oil change, tire rotation, alignment, etc.) plus new front brakes (including two new rotors) done just three days ago, to the tune of almost $400.

I think that may be the problem. Every time I get Ellen all spiffed up something horrible happens. Almost a year ago I put $840 into her, and four days later there was that collision that put her into the body shop for almost a month, and *could* have seriously injured (or killed) me and Minnie if the circumstances were ever so slightly different.

That's it! No more routine maintenance for this car!:lol:

Pretty rare that the PCV system turns on the MIL, unless it loses it's seal somewhere and causes a vacuum leak.

Hi guys :)

Another productive weekend. Got a few rooms painted etc. coming along nicely!

Only used the new camera for about 5-6 photos. But here comes the dilemma...I stupidly formatted the CF card before realising that I had not downloaded the photos! I stopped using the card immediately. Anyone know which software I can use to recover them?

Speaking of that. Some one knocked over my bike yesterday. This caused my rear derailleur to bend in and thus misaligned. Turned my 20 speed bike into an 8 speed. The ride back on the hills was not fun at all as i only had access to my high gears. 20 bucks later and it was good as new.

Yup. My rides start and end at a shop. So as soon as i got there i had them take it. It was night and day. I had no clue that was going on until i went on the first hill, tried shifting from 5 to 4, chain started to jump so tried shifting from 4-3, same thing then I stalled out. Good thing i know how to just slow down and fall over slowly. That is when i figured out i only had access to 7-10 on my rear and couldn't access 1-6 (aka the ones you would want on inclines). Shop did a very good job and it felt good as new after they go through it.

Yeah my chain was jumping gears when I put down the power the last time I was out, but I don't know if it was my master link or the derailer... this master link has given me some grief in the past, I have a new one I may just swap it out with.

Just added up my work hours from last week... slightly over 50 hours. Overtime is anything past 44 hours. This week is already heading towards high hours as well, for some reason the new guy took off at 4:30 (boss might have sent him home as we were quite slow today) so I worked till 6pm, which is a 9 1/2 hour day. And the boss said that it will probably be the middle of June before the next guy is ready to start working Saturday's on his own (on his own computer wise), so I have a bunch more Saturday's to work. :(

Weekend of the Grand Prix event is looking a little shaky... will be working till 12:30 on Saturday, so I could make it for half the day and see the Grand-Am 200. Sunday would be the best day to go, but it's my niece's 4th birthday party.

And some of you live in the first place to make texting and walking illegal. That is going to be an enforcement nightmare.

Just got some very sad news. My father-in-law passed away this morning. Headed to CA instead. He was a very unique individual and will be sorely missed. RIP Jim. :(:(

nope, I heard it last night too....walking and texting, $85 fines per incident. Because 3 idiots died when walking into a road when texting.

rather than fine people, let them be run over... population needs some culling.

lol, isn't it insane?? Where does the race start Omar?

It really is considering i am a part of it! Both in the racing aspect as well as helping out with training rides and registering the riders this Friday at the NYC Bike Expo

The lower level of the GWB will be closed for the riders to assemble. Then from there they will take a left after the bridge on to main street for a bit then heading down towards the river and taking the Henry Hudson drive north. Merges up with 9W and up and over bear mountain. Then at the bottom of bear mountain taking a right and doing 3 more climbs in the Thiells region. Then heading back down with a finish in weehawken. :D

I did some reading on this and it appears that Ft. Lee has a major jaywalking problem. It's not just the texters, it's pedestrians in general...

jaywalkers here don't care what colour the traffic lights are...then again, neither do drivers. red lights mean nothing to people...

I know some of the stuff from there ultimately made it to Steamtown....but I have no idea what became of the vast majority of it. I never understood the reason behind locating the museum where they did though. I suspect that if they had built it closer to Syracuse that it might still be in operation. Sandy Pond was never more than a wide spot in the road, even on the best of days.
