Hello, I am Woodsie, and I am an Lcoholic!:lol::lol:

Just got my 80-200 f/2.8 L yesterday and had my first try with it. This lens is 14 years old, and it is amazing. Just blows my other lenses out of the water. My practice shots show that I need to practice with the very shallow depth of field with this lens at f/2.8. I might need to practice at f/4 for a little while first.

It is also good at attracting attention, even if it is a beautiful stealth black rather than the current Canon white. I pulled the camera out and was wandering around trying to decide what I was going to shoot. These two lovely lasses called out "Take a photo of ME!!!". I thought it would be rude not to oblige... ;)

Hello Woodsie and welcome. The big difference between L addiction and other addictions is, you'll never recover from L disease.

Lovely shot and nice bokeh. You can improve the shot even more my selecting the girls faces in PhotoShop and brightening them up with the levels control. You could also try using the dodge tool.

Enjoy your new lens and please keep posting pictures of those pretty "lasses" you've got over there. :D ;) :D

1. We admitted we were powerless over "L's" — that our lives had become unmanageable.

Okay, I was, for a moment, being somewhat humorous (trying anyway). But, with Holidays approaching, some seriousness may be in order. For excellent resources on addiction and help: www.recoveryindiana.org

Woodsie,

good to see that you like your new (old) lens :D
I think that the 80-200/2.8 L is a hell of a bargain, if compared to the new lenses.

Best regards,
Andy

Some tell me that it will catch up with me, but I plan to have fun while it lasts and try to taper off gradually. . .

Have Fun,

P.S. 80-200 f2.8L is next on my List, and you just dangled a tasty tidbit in my face - curses to you!

How I understand you woodsie! I got my 80-200 2.8 from my sister who used to be a sport photog and who also bought it in '95.

This lens is just amazing for the price you can get it today.

My next lens on the list for that range is the Sigma 120-300 2.8 which is also a killer!

Have fun!:D
