Anybody has a Gallery with two language versions?

Anybody has experience with a gallery in two or various languages?
I think about creating the pages index, list and photo.php with the relative language versions, or is it better to install a whole new gallery for the second language?
Any hints are welcome !

There is a website for the translation work of The Gallery 1.3, another fine php gallery, maybe we can get some hints from their forum about the workflow. I would join a EE-Translation for the german and the italian version of EE.

Next EE is fully multilingual in both database and user-interface texts and messages.
It should be in beta in the end of next week (no promises) so I'll start gathering translators soon.

UI translation is easy - few php files with plain text. The database itself (photos and exhibitions) are translated directly in editor by each user.

Editor is also partly multilingual now, but it is a big job to translate it fully so I'll leave it for now...

I think the user interface is more important as the editor.

It would be nice to try a bit if it's possible to extract the strings, translate them and put them back into the files. We translate also websites, but extracting the text from the php-files can be a bit tricky.

We are waiting for the spanish translation, meanwhile you can look for the italian version I have done:

I have just done my works on the italian version files. All users can dowload the only upgrade files (in a ZIP archive) for the italian language, to get a real multilingual EE installation....

HOW TO INSTALL

Unzip ee_lang_ita.zip archive and upload via FTP the folder "ita" in the folder "laguages" you find in your EE gallery directory.
Then go to your admin section, click on the button "languages" under the "SETTINGS" menu and add the italian language to the EE database and set it as "public". Finally click on the "update all languages" button. That's alla folks ;-)
