I think I've read every thread about this but I'm obviously doing something wrong and I can't find the answer.

I've followed the instructions on page 117 of the manual but every time I push the "Set" button to enable sensor cleaning, the LCD goes black and the camera shuts down. I have to turn the power switch off and back on again to try again. The mirror and shutter stay exactly where they were.

Help!?

Stan,

Haven't got my D30 any more, but don't you have to have the camera plugged into main power to get sensor cleaning mode to work?

Yes, you do.
I've just tried mine, and it shuts down, flashing "AC" in the top LCD if you try on battery power.

Thanks for your help guys.

I was using the AC adaptor cable but for some reason the camera still thought I was on battery and kept flashing 'AC' in the LCD panel.

I tried it again today and it worked just fine. No idea why because I didn't do anything different. (At least I think I didn't)

Now my problem is that I can't get rid of the mark on my images. I assumed it was dust but blowing didn't fix it and gentle cleaning with isopropal and cotton buds hasn't budged it either.

Stan,

Turned the power on this time, didn't you? Just kidding. :)

Here's what I use that has so far worked OK:

There are also a couple of links to how-to articles by well-known photog's.

Hi Roger

Thanks for the information.

I found a supplier here in New Zealand for the Eclipse and Sensor Swabs but after he told me the prices I decided to order them from the USA at half the price :)

I hope it does the trick.

Cheers
