I can't stand it... I hate feeling "disconnected" at all.... But getting buzzed is sort of inevitable when you're drinking..

Wtf? Disconnected??

Just wear a bluetooth gizmo as you drink to feel better about yourself!

*sigh*

Hahaha, you wouldn't last 5 minutes at a UK university then. Just drinking all week long. Monday is even "student night" when you go out. Beers are £1 a pint :)

Sets you well for the rest of your life. :). That plus you can handle your beers.

Then you go to Ibiza in the summer. You sleep on the beach in the day, go back to the hotel, shower, get ready for the night out. 6pm-6am you drink and go clubbing, find a bird to shag (they all have comps about who can sleep with the most so even you would get lucky, nick ;)), go back to sleep on the beach... All cyclic.

You need a better alcohol tolerance.
 My alcohol tolerance is just fine for me... I'm not a big drinker. In fact I really didn't start drinking until I was well past my 21st birthday...

Well... I think my lip is back to normal.... I can't believe that bee managed to land on my lip and sting me while I was riding at 16-17mph... I nearly ran into a gate as a result. Thank heavens I'm not allergic.. although one other ride the guy I was riding with got stung in the back of the throat and he's mildly allergic.

Yeah, that would have been nasty!

My only alcohol consumption before the age of 21 was a sip here or there, but mainly it was from communion although most of the time I went with the non alcoholic stuff because cheap wine is nasty.

I am excited though... I have a nice single malt to test out on my vacation (aberlour a'bunadh)... only shame is I'll have to leave the bottle in NC. You can't bring open bottles of booze back on the plane. :(

Bud and coors are terrible... I avoid it as much as I can.

But oh well... knowing my one BIL most of the bottle will be gone anyway. I bought it on Dan's suggestion, so we'll see how good it is. (It does have amazing reviews) If it's that good I'll just pick up another bottle when I get back.

it was raining hard and I ran to the back of my SUV and grab my bag... I did not close it earlier and I dropped my new 105mm f/2.8 VR  ... it probably dropped about 2-3feet to the rough concrete floor and it got wet :(

I put in into my bag and held my camera with the 24-70mm on it, ran about 20 meters in pouring rain, all wet then when I got to our door, I was trying to hold my stuff properly when I let go of the Camera with the 24-70mm on it  although it was only about less than a foot on a shiny tiles :D

Everything seems ok though :D

You need to get a 7d and just spam-shoot :D You're guaranteed to get a few keepers mixed in with the crap. My biggest concern is missing a specific moment because I end up with a bunch that aren't on focus. High-FPS bodies are made for people like us.

I just went through like 50 shots I took of a single bird that was difficult to lock on--I swear I went through a patch of 20-30 shots without a single keeper.

I have a 7d. I don't like spam shooting very much though I do it when I am desperate. It makes me feel like I'm just throwing paint on a canvas by the handful and hoping that the Mona Lisa will be there when I'm finished...

I also cringe about "wasting" so many shutter clicks with no purpose. Now if I'm shooting a subject that is fast moving and I know there could be some interesting captures within their movement, no problem running it fast to see what happens (which is actually what someone is doing if they're doing high speed and tracking a bird in flight). ;)

wuzzittoya
11th of March 2012 (Sun), 07:32
Stopping down the lens will get the entire face in focus. Does it matter? :)

Sometimes it doesn't matter to me - if I have the eyes in focus and everything else goes blurry and it's a fluffy furry critter to begin with, why can't I choose that if I like the way it looks?

That had to be painful! Bees swarm this time of year sometimes if there is a new queen and they have to set up a new hive (I think that is what bee keepers explained to me). However, sometimes they aren't swarming - it's that they wake up hungry and there isn't adequate resources for all of them so they get a lot more busy - that's another possibility. Beekeepers will often provide their hives sugar water this time of year to keep them from dying...

I'm sure they'll repair them if you pay them to. With grey units the only issue is usually warranty work.

I just finished the power point for the praise and worship service. My allergies are going nuts so they're going to have to sing along with the original tracks with no song leader. I guess at least they still get to sing along... just kinda like with the radio. :)

Now to feed the chickens, get a shower and wake up the rest of my family (or debate about letting the boys sleep in).

Finish the dreaded book. Week before last my mom came out the whole week so I could hide in my room and work, can't work around the kids very well. Don't think I've posted in a month or so and before that it was very sporadic. The book sucked out my soul!

And 1 month ago I think, my 4yo got Hand Foot and Mouth, then a week later the two of them got RSV, Fifth's disease and a 3rd named one I can't even remember. It was hell. So I pulled her outa school for a month, along with all the other crap I was trying to finish. She goes back monday, woot! Hoping she doesn't get sick again.

Cool pic, maybe hawks are a preditor? Or owls?

I've seen a few hawks in the sky, but I've never seen them go after perched birds. As I understand it they go after the varmints, mice, squirrels, minks, and the like. That was the only thorn-tree I could find while walking around the park--if birds were that worried about cover, hundreds of them would be in there :) As agile as birds are, I can imagine those stupid things impaling themselves on those rigid spikes.

The right thing to do is find good reasons for them to go. We're starting a praise band at our church and it will be being filled with all teenagers and young adults. Kind of excited to have the kids involved - they hate what the church is now because it bores them, but haven't felt welcome to really do much about it. I'll be making them behave and stay on course, probably playing keyboard, providing vocals, etc., but hoping ultimately to have it all be "theirs" and not have anything to do besides scheduling when they'll be leading church. :)

yeah, I always do close my bag that's why my mind was set to just grab my bag :(

btw, the camera and the 24-70mm was not inside the bag, I was holding them and had no time to put inside the bag coz the rain was pouring hard :(

Are you keeping it?

Hey Omar.

Terrible ride today man  Had two flats and my tired slashed out as well  Had to play catchup twice with the GF leaders but in doing so that put me in the hole right from the beginning. Mind you I flatted the first time staying in the back to help the less experienced riders. Then on mile 36 my thighs both locked up out of no where!!! I wasnt fatigued as i was going up with no issue and then BAM they both locked up. I made it to the rest stop and i had to withdraw from the ride. I felt like crap because physically I wasnt tired but my thighs just couldn't loosen up enough. Didn't want to hold back the group so i called for Mayra to scoop me up. Absolutely the worst. Oh and i had a dropped chain!

My Conti GP's had never failed me since i purchased them but man did they go today and did they go quick. :(

Picked up a set of Michellin Pro 4's at the shop on the way home. Lets see how long they last before they drop.

hehehehe...

As for me, I don't hate the 5D MKIII...I just don't think it commands the price Canon is asking for.

Also, some people are delusional into thinking that the Nikon system is more expensive... it is more expensive coz its more updated. if you compare the newer Canon stuff, they are at par or more expensive than the Nikon ones. 70-200mm IS is more expensive than VRII, 24-70mm MKII is more expensive than the Nikon version, the primes are about the same? the flashes about the same also I think (at least here), while everybody will agree that the Nikon flash is better.
