For birding, the 70-200 II w/2x II disappointed me so very, very much. Tracking was horrible, and contrast was laughable. Pushing it in post got me almost nowhere. The one thing the 70-200 II has going for it as a long prime replacement--the IS is VERY effective. Beats out the 400 DO, 300 2.8 IS, 300 4 IS, and the Sigma 50-500 OS. As long as your subjects don't move, it'd be great for handholding... if not for the images looking like crap :D
 I think so... I have a few good shots with the 70-200mm + 2xTCIII but none of them are birds

Well the rumors say it'll be the standard rotation zoom--whether it will feature an extendable barrel like the Sigma 50-500 or be internal like the 70-200 remains to be seen. Either design concept is completely unacceptable to me. Push-pull is the only thing that cuts it for nature photographers. If it's not push/pull, I won't upgrade to the 100-400 II, period.
We know about the patent, but that tells us nothing:

If you're using a standard ball head with the pan, you would have to make sure the camera is level. I would then take practice shots to make sure everything is level when you drop them is PS. This will make the it easy to line up. The other option is to buy pano head but, there's an additional cost involved.

Food, the reason I first joined this thread was to post food pictures at 2AM..Filipinos love to eat, as I mentioned we maintained live in cooks, we eat 5 times a day, breakfast, morning snacks, lunch, afternoon snacks, dinner and midnight snacks. A typical lunch is at least three types of food, with rice, meat, fsh and vegetable dishes....here is our lunch today, an ordinary day, all home cooked. from bottom to up, stir fried vegetables, chcken terriyaki, grilled tanguinge- king fish, korean beef with chinese brocolli, bbq baby back ribs, pork in shrimp paste with chii and eggplant, binagoongan baboy, bitter melon with egg, sauted ampalaya and steamed rice.

new gears will have to wait, my beloved mother in law, who has always been with us taking care of my children passed away yesterday after 11 days at the St Luke's medical center, may she rest in peace, she was 91 and comatosed by Thursday...the hospitalization and funeral bills here are exhorbitant and her medicare is not accepted insurance here. creamation is at 2 today and services tonight and tomorrow night and interment in the crypt at Sanscuario San Antonio church, at Forbes is on Thursday.
Tony I'm sorry for your loss! Deaths in the family aren't fun but when a loved one lives a long life like you mother in law did of 91 years I'm sure you all have plenty of great moments to remember her by.... My thoughts go to you and your family.

Day is going well so far. Have had lots of small odds and ends to already take apart :D 5D3 bashing is becoming too easy
