A70 thingies.

I went back to my store, they actualy sold the only camera they had in (id been waiting for 2 1/2 months) to a guy who had been waiting less than a week.

He's now telling me that with the 2100 NicMetHyd batteries i'll only get about 15 shots out of the camera before the batteries are dead! This sounds realy bad, i though i read somewhere that people are getting 100+ photos.

Whats the go?
My gf with me reckons he's trying to get my to buy another camera now. They have lied to me before there about my camera.

He also said that when movies go for more than 30 secs(low res), they get cut and have a small 0.8 sec gap between the 30 sec segments. Anyone found this on there camera?

Another thing he said was compact flash cards can override your photos unless you lock them, sounds dodge to me. Take photo, go back later and its not there. doubt it.

I'm thinking of trying to get a Tele Lens for my cam, (when i eventualy get it). Im wondering what optical zoom does it turn it up to. I know it is 3X standard, does the new zoom go ontop of that or totaly replace it? (just optical, not with any digital)
And for the A70, does it require an addaptor lens?

Ive noticed that everyone on here talks about card readers, are they realy worth the extra $'s, this camera realy hits my wallet and have to think about what i buy untill i get a decent job.


What software do you need to run the videos produced from the camera? Will it work on a standard windows media player without any codecs? I know software comes with the camera but im talking about when u send ur movies to other people.

Home much do they cost in Australia, They are going for 240-260GBP in the UK.

In aus the recomended retail is $700 aus. Everyone thats not a dedicated camera store sells it for that much. i got mine for $600. Apparently the cost price for stores in $565.

Not a bad profit on a sale.

I have been impressed with the quality of the movies taken with the A70. They are slightly jerky when displayed full screen on a 17'' monitor.

Have you got a ETA for your A70 from the seller?

Ive been told that it wont be any less than 1 month. So that makes it at least 3 1/2 months in total.

Ive heard alot about this camera but never actualy used it. I hope its worth it.

Nah actualy every store ive visited has been sold out and heard that there are no A70's for sale is Aus atm. A quote from canon on the phone "if you find an A70 for sale atm, its worth 1 million dollars". I know its exagurating but i had that camrea, last week, an A70!!!!!!!

But the buggers sold it on me.

I was thinking of going else where but they have given me a good deal on it, and thrown in a waterproof case because they stuffed me round majorly on something else. More broken promisses.

Well the waterproof case.

I'm taking my camera out in a boat when we go wakeboarding. I can then use it from a tube to get some nice shots, kinda important. (or if some idiot sprays me). I was gonna buy it later but was gonna be about $400 Aus.

Anyone got good ideas on what i can do fro wakeboarding shots?

I think i'll need a fast shutter so the bounce doesnt blur the shot.

Well i went back into today, they rang up some head guys and reckon ii will be in a week.

The chances of that, well, track record aint that good. Only the 4th time ive heard it from them.

I am also in Brisbane, AU and was shopping for the A70 last week., on the 28th. I couldn't find it anywhere but Myer in the city just had fresh stock come in. Don't know if any are left right now.

I also showed them a Rainer's Camera House which had the A70 for AUD659 and the salesman grudgingly agreed to match it for me.

A shame then, that I went for the G3 in the end ;)
