How much do you think B&H sells each month? Millions?
Carzee
15th of December 2005 (Thu), 06:17
Well, its hard to grasp, in sheer dollars.... but there are even a couple of their cartons in my very average garage in my very average Australian suburb.
Millions and zillions...
tim

I've spent a fair bit with them, just not this month, but it's a drop in the bucket for them. I wonder if they're the biggest camera store in the world?

Wow, sweet thread! Cool too see how much cash people have spent just in the last month or so... I'm guessing this only counts for the month of december right? Not November? Well, then you can add me in for the following,

300 f/4L IS (On it's way from an FM member) $925.00

I didn't buy it, but Santa came early this year and dropped a Sony DVD/CD RW external drive off for me to store my originals. I *think* it's about $150.00.

Got $300 for background, frame, reflectors, stands, $315 for 50mm f1.4, and Gary Fong's LightSphere II (didn't get that yet) for $35. Still have to get a polarizing filter for the lens, but will add later. And I got the same Sony DVD/CD RW external Drive at Staples $159.00 (with a $20 rebate).

And congrats CurtisN..did you trade the 300D in the deal for the 20D? I think you had a 300D, or did you? Anyway, hope you get some great shots. I like mine a lot.
Curtis N
15th of December 2005 (Thu), 16:51
did you trade the 300D in the deal for the 20D?Nah. Still got it.
Technically, the 300D belongs to my wife. She keeps reminding me that I gave it to HER for HER birthday last March! I guess now she'll actually get to use it some. We'll probably still fight over the lenses & flash unit though. ;)

My damage : $1690
This includes another flash (430EX to go with the 580EX), a light tent along with some hotlights, a 50mm f/1.8, a 5-1 reflector, quite a few photo books (I've got a lot to learn), a new ball head and a few other odds and ends. Oh and CS2.
Hmmm, I seem to be running out of money but there's oh so much more I covet.

O_O You have a Custom, belmondo? WHY DIDN'T I SEE A BOX?? Are you stashing SECRET BOXES?!?!
Well, the custom bracket comes in a funky-shaped box that doesn't store well. Then, there are the miscellaneous bits and pieces that come in bags. When all is said and done, it was best just to throw all that stuff out. Besides, I'll never part with my Custom Bracket, so the box would never be used.
Ronald S. Jr.

By the way, funny shaped or not, I still have my boxes. Kind of a trapezoid shape. Who the heck thought of that? I'd like to see a bunch of THEM on a shelf!

I'm thinking we'll hit 200k by tomorrow evening. This went QUICK! have to say, though...seems like most of the "big ticket" was for computers. Someone should add up everything MINUS the computers/monitors/drives/etc. I'd be interested!

Just a thought, Carzee, but you might want to run this survey past Christmas by a few days. Some people might receive cash, checks, or gift certificates as gift that they'll want to turn into photo gear. Others might want to exchange that ugly figurine they got from Aunt Gertrude. In short, I think the Christmas buying season runs well past Christmas.

Well I hadn't planned on getting any accessories for my new 20D (which was tabulated about 13 pages ago), but to my chagrin, I have found that the Promaster 7500DX flash that I've been using with (my wife's) 300D won't work with the 20D.
So chalk me up for a Sigma EF-500 DG Super flash unit.

It would be an interesting an scary exercise to do a POTN Total Equipment Value Poll. Choose a site like B&H or Adorama and using their new prices (I know people buy second hand) add up the total worth of every posters equipment. I think we'd be shocked at what that number would be.
