Had a bunch of smaller thoughts, but thought I'd combine them all in one thread. That way, you can read to here and press the "Back" button now. :D

First of all, received my bargain zoom lens for my Pentax K-1000 today. Paid all of $25 for it, shipped. It is a Craig Optics (didn't know that Craig got into lenses - I remember they made a lot of cheap car stereos in the 1970's) 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6 macro. I've had the K-1000 since receiving it as a Christmas gift in 1980, but have never had anything other than the 50mm "kit lens" attached to it in all that time.

Since recently dusting off the inherited Miranda Sensorex (circa 1967) and the Tamron 70-220 f/4 lens for it, I've been dabbling in film again. Still have to get used to not being able to chimp on a film body. :D

Figured I'd line them both up for a group portrait along with the 300D and 70-200 f/4L.

Last thought. Who else has been watching football on TV this holiday and scanning the sidelines for photographers, and white glass in particular? Come on - raise your hand - I see you over there in the corner. ;)

Just remembered my other thought. While out shooting this afternoon, I decided to do an f/22 shot of the clear blue sky to see how cruddy my sensor is by now. I've had the camera for almost seven months and 7,500 shutter actuations, but never have cleaned the sensor. I found two spots - amazing. I'm not even going to bother trying to clean it at this point.

Sweet stuff Malcom. I've been comping at the bit to get a 7n or EOS3 and getting a few film shots. Having to hold myself back. Good luck!

Yeah, I've been looking at used Elans or higher-end film Rebels to use as a backup body until I can afford to pick up a 20D to use as a primary and retain the 300D for a backup.

What the heck. In a pinch, the Pentax has a pretty accurate and foolproof metering system, even if it is manual focus. For relatively static objects like potrait work, it'll do.

Just looking at the picture that I posted again. Took it with my old HP 850 P/S. Desaturated and mild USM in Photoshop yielded a pretty darn good image. I guess in a really big pinch, I could still use it as a backup body. Wouldn't want to do all the post-processing I'd need for, say, a wedding. However, I did my original outdoor portrait work with it.

Damn, Ian. Now I've got to go back and review my semaphore!
