16 bit tiffs on 1ds

SO I'm very new to this new world. I converted some files shot on the 1DS to 16 bit tiffs using the Canon FVU but they were processed linearly and now read about 3 stops under. Is there any way I can bring them back up - the CF card is already overwritten.

Lesson 1: always keep backup copies of your raw files. ;)

This isn't guaranteed to give a perfect image, but you could try in Photoshop:

- Levels: drag the white point down to the highest RGB value

- Tweak the gamma slide to adjust brightness. Dont overdo this because you can add more brightness by

- Curves: apply an adjustment to further increase brightness
