:D
The Bufflehead hen has always been one of my favorite ducks. She reminds me of a little 'bathtub duckie'. Here she is giving me her 'demure' look.

Another favorite of mine is the Wood Duck hen. Her colors are very subtle, but very beautiful. Here she is perched up on shore and posing for the camera.

Very nice, Harvey! It's not easy to get those colors on the Woodie hens to show up; you've done a great job there.

Lovely shots, Harvey. The Bufflehead is a beautiful lady. Very gracious looking and if I didn't know better, I would say: and very much aware of it! :) The Wood Duck hen is lovely too, but without the grace of the first I think. But both are equally wonderful shots.

Fantastic shots Harvey! Lovin' the Bufflehead! They are so skittish around here I'd need a 1200mm to get close. The exposure on both is super along with the colors and sharpness.

how did you tranquilize them? I usually just see the tail end of a Wood Duck as it leaves, stage right. And the buffs around here are careful to stay just out of range.
Beauties, both.

Beauties, both.
Thanks a lot, Nancy. I find with birds the key is to 'hurry up and wait'. If I sit still and quiet for a time, they will often drift back within range.
Beauties, Harv, and glad to see you back.
Thanks very much, Stan.

Absolutely gorgeous "buffy" hen Harv, and she does look quite demur doesn't she - :)
Honestly, I had no idea that female woodies had that much color. Are you sure you didn't plant a female's head on the body of another duck? Of course you didn't, but she is quite the looker too. Excellent waterfowl!

Thank you very much, Steve. I appreciate your kind words. Many hens have really nice color and detail if we look closely. Even Mrs. Mallard.
