hello! my powershot a75 is almost a year old this december. have had no complaints and really happy with it until i turned it on last week, for no apparent reason, the images came out blurred on the lcd while in record mode. i read about the CCD issue at canon's website and since it is still within warranty, i brought it to Canon's Service Center here in the Philippines (Makati). Just wondering if it is standard that working days take 14 days minimum and if any of you had bad experience with regards to Canon's repair services? And you think they could give a service replacement camera in the meantime? Am really worried that I might not get my camera back in time for the christmas season ... brought it to Canon Makati last Nov. 22 and 2 weeks working time will mean getting it back PROBABLY Dec. 06 :(

have to say, the idea of a loaner camera while warranty work is done would have come in handy for me. My S2 died a week before a long-awaited trip - it was under warranty, and I had to mail it to the repair center. It was waiting for me when I returned home, but I had to buy a replacement in the meantime.
They replaced something called the optic center (which sounds like most of the innards to me, but what do I know).
So, now I have two S2's and while I am pleased that the one was repaired in a fairly timely fashion, I wish there had been another way around the whole thing.

Nancy (realizing she could have got a Rebel XT kit now for all the money put into the S2 situation)

I have an A75, and I am now slightly worried the ccd will fail with the standard issue. Canon have issued a recall for faulty cameras, but is this still going to not be valid after a year (I recieved it as an xmas gift last year), or will this particular issue be valid for longer?

hey, good news! yup, they're going to fix it whether you bought it in your country or not and even without warranty. i got a service replacement unit while i wait for them to fix my A75 ... they loaned me a brand new A520, complete with the box and accessories ... have tried the A520 but i still like my A75 ... i think the A520 is a bit slow when it comes to saving pictures with flash ... takes about 4-5 secs to save the image in postcard mode vs 1 sec in my A75 ... but the picture quality is excellent just like all their A series
