so, i buy the 10d and as i'm waiting for it to come in i read all this bad news about the autofocus system...... my camera comes and i give it "the old bob atkins test" now i'm not one of these tech guys that measure bokeh and what not..i am however a professional and know a sharp photo when i see one. i tested using 50 shots moving the focus point between shots and refocusing on each frame the results were 43 sharp 7 front focused....i don't think that s bad so heres the question??? can anyone tell me the autofocus failure rate for this camera..... thanks alot i hope this can be answered.....

I believe that answering that question requires knowledge of the focal length of the lens, distance to target, nature of the target, amount of light, etc.
I have some posts on Bob's page and you'll see that my accuracy varied greatly depending on such conditions. All I can say is that the 10D does better than the Elan II which I also briefly tested. (By the way the owner never questioned the focus accuracy of the Elan II.)

There's some interesting points in a thread on another forum, easier to point you there than repeat it:
