As an amateur photographer, I wanted to add some decent portraiture into my portfolio, so I invited my friend Brenda out to do a photoshoot. Here are the results:

These are really nice shots!! Many a pro would probably be happy with these.......her hand in the first one seems awkward; the 3rd is a really nice composition with the space to on her left......maybe crop a little away! All in all pretty good stuff for beginning a portfolio!

Very nice set, your model definitely has a great potential (as a matter of fact - you both do). One word of advice - try to photograph with more uniform backgrounds and to achieve shallower depth of field. And, of course, practise, practise and practise ;)

I really like the composition in #3, it's something I haven't really seen before. Nice job with them.

why not try another shoot with a different colour blouse
I do not think that the dark emerald is her colour...

I like #3 and #4. I think some of the other shots would be better if you had a more shallow DOF.

You have a very nice eye for photography...I like the pictures and I saw your gallery too....nice.
Do you use flash on your daylight shots?

My picks are #3 and #5.
Might have moved her just a bit down the hill on #3 so the background was all green. That bit of light a the top right draws the eye a bit much.
Well done all in all.
Hope to see more of your work.

wow, very nice. The pigeon in #2 is realy distracting though, and maybe i would give a few shots shorter DOF, but it already looks prety shallow. What lens were you using?

These are all very good images. In my opinion 3 and 5 are the best ones. In number 3 I think it would look better if it was cropped veritcally. I find the amount of grass on the left distracting. In cropping this one I would make sure that I didn't cut the top of the models hat off.
I like your colors and skin tones. Very nice job all the way around.

Regards,
They looked a tad too blown out when I tried the flash, so I went without. It was fine as long as the model was facing the sun.

I was using my 50mm f/1.4 :)

I really like #3. like Solinger said, I haven't seen it done very much, and I think you hit it off perfect. The emotion is stunning
#2 is very distracting with the birds in my humble oppinon. Also, my eyes went to the upper right of the photo at the flare.
I myself am an amature photographer as well and I enjoy seeing others like myself put there work out for others to see. Congrats.
