I just joined because it said it was a Cannon forum, but I have a Cannon FS400 camcorder question is this site just cameras?
Just in case someone knows, when mine arrived and I tried to use it on internal memory but it keeps saying no SD card. Question, must a SD card be installed to use the interal memory?

You can edit the title.

Hit edit on the first post then Go Advanced. That should let you change it.

Well, I'm afraid that, like most camcorders, the FS400 doesn't include built-in memory. You need a memory card.

Thanks you, I guess only the FS 40 has interal memory. That's the answer I was looking for. The manuel I got has the FS 40 & 400 in it, it mentioned the interal of the 40 but said nothing about the 400 NOT having any.

If you look again at the manual, on p. 35 where it talks about selectiong internal memory or the card, it has the [FS40] icon on there. On p. 8, it has the [FS40] icon next to the "Dual Flash Feature" blurb. On pp. 70 and 90 it has the [FS40] icon next to the writeups on transferring movies and photos respectively to the memory card. And on p. 12, "How to use this manual", next to the [FS40] icon, it says "Text that applies only to the model shown in the icon". So it's a safe inference that the FS400 doesn't have the dual memory feature.
