Multiple Username Searches - what are the chances?

How hard would it be to set up a second username to search for in the advanced search window?

Suppose 6 months ago, I got into a heated discussion with CyberDyneSystems. Today I just found the evidence that will convince him that I am right! I would want to find the thread, but I cannot remember what the original topic was.

With a "Search For: username and: username (find threads both users posted to)" function I could easily narrow the threads down to a managable amount.

Is that a) even possible and b) a feature that would be worth the effort?

well, if you managed to quote each other your names will appear as regular text and will be hit by a search. So in Advanced search enter "Radtech1 and cyberdynesystems" and check the Boolean button at the bottom.

Or, if you didn't quote each other, then try searching for one person in the Key Words box and another in the User Name box. If one or the other were quoted then this will work.

I figured that one out, but - like you - quickly it's limitations and the fact that it will return results only if x, y, and z conditions are met. Knowing NOTHING about what it takes to configure a discussion forum, I just thought that I would ask if that was easy, hard or worth the trouble.

It looks like it's something that could be done only with direct access of the database, which means that only Pekka could do it. But maybe Tommykjensen will see this post - he's pretty savvy with vBulletin and might know of another way.


Curious though - if you found the piece of info that proves you right then how come it doesn't give you a hint of something else to search for? Or was that just a hypothetical situation?

Purely hypothetical - even absurdist - I could never win a heated discussion with CDS! :eek:

Did You try this:

In username: radtech1
In text to search for: CyberDyneSystems

Result: 4 threads.

Other than that Scottes is correct search on both usernames the way You ask for would require a direct query to the database which only Pekka can do, I don't know if CDS can but maybe it would not be wise to ask him ;-) afterall he could just say "nope soooorry did not find anything - I was right"

Was Your example a real one or just made up for this question?

EDIT: just saw it was hypothetical.
