:(
As you may recall my a620 was due to arrive tomorrow; well it arrived today and I was excited to test it out. Unfortunately I put in the batteries, and then the SD card and when I powered it up I got the well known 'E18' error... right out of the box! I was really disappointed. I bought it through Dell and had to jump through hoops all day before they agreed to replace it. They originally wanted me to return it to Canon, but I told them that was unacceptable as it was DOA and I didn't want to begin the waiting game with Canon repairing it, etc. Dell was pretty good about the whole thing; barring some language barriers and misunderstandings about what the error code meant, they finally agreed to send out a replacement unit and a return label for the defective camera.
I had second thoughts about taking a replacement and just jumping to DSLR, but I'm giving Canon a second chance... I'm not to warm and fuzzy about this apparent defect in the p&s lines and I'm hoping the camera will last for at least a couple years....
So anyway, I'm bummin' but looking forward to an operable unit.
